No Place Like Home
My Fantasies...uh...Books
Great Places to Visit
What's there to say, I've loved books even before I could read. Having a vivid imagination, it only makes sense that I would want to write one, and there are so many stories waiting to be heard.
My childhood was spent in fields, lakes, and woods of Alabama playing make-believe with cousins and friends. I think of my childhood as one long summer. The best any child could ever dream of. Maybe that's why I have a hard time acting like an adult. Being a kid was so much more fun.
As a kid, I was spellbound by Barnabas on DARK SHADOWS and Dr. Syn in SCARECROW OF ROMNEY MARSH. Now that I'm older, I believe my interest in Barnadas was that he could stay young forever (though I thought he looked rather old), while my interest in Dr. Syn was purely tied up with...well, he was hot! What can I say, Patrick McGoohan was a fine looking actor, and he rode a horse (I'm still crazy about horses) while protecting his people. Mysterious and dangerous at night, and a vicar during the day. Devil and angel. Yep, my kind of man.
As I got older, other characters interested me from TV and books alike. Books by Linda Howard, Sherrilyn Kenyon, J. R. Ward and many more. Of course, I enjoyed Angel on BUFFY and his own TV series, along with John on FARSCAPE, and especially Michael on LA FEMME NIKITA (another good guy that would do bad things to protect those he loved).
Now, I try to make my heroes a little like those guys with my own twist. Hopefully, one of my heroes will show up on the best seller list, and later on the small or big screen and then I can influence a young girl somewhere into wanting to be a writer too.
